Last updated: 2026-05-23

These terms govern your use of Shakr (the “Service”), a professional networking app for the hospitality industry. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and using Shakr in a professional capacity (industry employee, contractor, or related role). You're responsible for keeping your account secure.

2. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

We can suspend or terminate your account for violations, at our discretion. The block and report tools in the app exist for you to flag bad behavior — please use them.

3. Your content

You own what you post (profile copy, photos, status updates, “creations”). By posting, you grant Shakr a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content within the Service for the purpose of operating the product. This license ends when you delete the content or your account (subject to the retention rules in the Privacy Policy).

You're responsible for having the rights to anything you post. If you post someone else's copyrighted work without permission, you may be liable for infringement under applicable law.

4. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

If you believe content on Shakr infringes your copyright, send a notice to hello@shakr.bar with the following:

We'll review and remove infringing content where appropriate. We may also terminate accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.

5. Our intellectual property

Shakr's name, logo, software, design, and product surface are owned by us. These terms don't grant you any rights to use them outside the Service itself. If you want to use the Shakr name or logo for coverage, partnerships, or anything similar, please contact us first.

6. Privacy

How we handle your information is covered in our Privacy Policy.

7. Beta status

Shakr is currently in private beta. Features may change, break, or be removed without notice. We'll try to communicate significant changes but can't guarantee uninterrupted service.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information shared by other users is accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shakr is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claims related to the Service is limited to USD $100.

10. Termination

You can delete your account anytime by emailing hello@shakr.bar (in-app delete is on the roadmap). We can terminate or suspend your account if you violate these terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.

12. Changes to these terms

If we update these terms in a way that materially affects you, we'll notify you in the app before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that constitutes acceptance.
